Bevin Doyle is a Rhode Island native who decided on a second career in nursing after spending many years as a veterinary nurse. She chose to incorporate the skills and knowledge acquired while caring for animals to pursue a career helping people. Bevin believes strongly in the therapeutic effects of pet ownership and is a strong advocate of pet therapy. She shares her home with a very understanding boyfriend and a menagerie of special needs pets.
While attending the University of Rhode Island, Bevin was able to help others within the program by holding tutoring sessions in such topics as pathophysiology, medical surgical nursing and dosage calculations. Her efforts have been acknowledged by not only the student body, but also the college by being awarded both the Godfrey Brown Leadership award and Student Service award during commencement.
Throughout her schooling she has worked as a Nursing Student Associate at Rhode Island Hospital, and also continued work at the veterinary hospital and volunteering at the animal shelter. Upon graduation Bevin will be beginning her career within the critical care internship at Rhode Island Hospital where she hopes to obtain her CCRN. She enjoys the challenges a critical care environment presents and takes comfort in knowing that she will be able to provide both compassionate and quality care to those in the greatest need. In the future she plans on obtaining her Masters degree in either acute/critical care nursing or perhaps pursue certification as a nurse anesthetist.
