Dear Members of Delta Upsilon Chapter at-Large,
Happy New Year! I hope that 2010 is a year of health, productivity, prosperity, and joy for you and your families. Balance in our personal and professional lives is important. I hope you achieve the balance that is the best for you.
The fall induction was a special event with Salve Regina University (SRU) being a part of the induction for the first time. We welcomed Dr. Peggy Matteson, Department of Nursing Chair, Dr. Jo Anne Barnes Mullaney, Faculty Counselor, and the inductees from SRU and their families. Dr. Joanne Costello presented the Scholarship and Brem awards. Dr. Karen Hetzel, Rhode Island College Faculty Counselor, received the Chapter Service Award. There is more on the induction in this newsletter.
Dr. Anne Carty and I represented Delta Upsilon (DU) Chapter at the 40th Biennial Convention from October 31-November 4, 2009. A report from the convention is included in this newsletter and on the DU website. It is important to note Karen Morin’s Presidential Call to Action for the next two years. It has implications for DU and where we should focus our efforts as we move forward on the path laid out in Vision 2020.
The new Region 15 coordinator is Julie Jones, RN MS, who is a graduate of Rhode Island College School of Nursing and now lives and works in Vermont. She plans to maintain her DU membership and may even attend our induction next fall. In her new role as coordinator for our region, Julie conducted a phone interview with me after I completed an online Chapter Interview Form. She is interested in learning about our Chapter and has offered to help with new initiatives such as creating a Facebook group. This is something that I hope our new members can take on as the next generation’s approach to communications.
I hope you plan to attend the spring business meeting and program. DU is collaborating with ENRS in planning this event to be held in March. It is important for the Chapter’s growth and prosperity to have members attend programs. If you have any suggestions for programs, please let Bonnie Dinwoodie or me know.
We want a healthy, productive, prosperous, and joyful honor society. Achieving this balance for the Chapter depends on all of us.
Best wishes,
M. Patricia B. Quigley, PhD, RN
