Improving Professional Practice through Research

Three nurse researchers, sponsored by Delta Upsilon Grants, presented their research findings to the Delta Upsilon membership. 

Robin Miller PhD, RN was first up with her research Stability, Structure and Effects of Perinatal Morbidity on Temperament from Infancy to Adolescence.


Kathleen Hawes, PhD, RN discussed her research on Nurse Job Stress, Burnout, Practice Environment, and Maternal Satisfaction in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.


Amy L. Salisbury, PhD, RN, BC presented information on Fetal Studies Program Examining Fetal and Infant Neurobehavioral Development



Fall Business Meeting Minutes

Call to Order   Quorum established.
Minutes

P Quiqley thanked everyone for a very good Spring Meeting and Event. 

The following corrections were made:

  • Correct spelling of Joining
  • In Faculty Counselor reports replace period with comma.
  • Correct spelling of Laurie Lauzon Clabo’s name
J Barnes Mullany moved to accept minutes with the corrections. M Thompson seconded the motion.  Motion approved.
OFFICERS' REPORTS
President

It was noted that the president is submitting reports through the “Create the Future” newsletter.  Everyone should be receiving them via email.  Please check with international office to confirm email.

A moment of silence for remembering of Ruth Waldman and others that have passed away this past year.

P Quigley also announced that at the International Meeting she will be a panel speaker discussing the chapter process add new school.
 
Vice President

B Dimwoodie gave a combined Vice-President and Program Committee report.
First was a thank you for coming tonight.

She reported a need for new members.  Most of the work is done by email and meet 2 -3 times a year.  A larger committee will help create.

Spring Meeting planning has begun.  There is consideration of a format change to combine with ERNS meeting scheduled for Providence.

The committee would welcome to ideas and thoughts.
 
Treasurer

D Erickson Owen presented the Treasurer’s report.  Report attached.

She thanked A Cullen, past treasurer, for her transition and help.
S Zion moved and ML Pam seconded the motion to accept the treasurer’s report.  Motion approved.
Faculty Counselors

Each school is presenting list of candidates that all met the 3.0 GPA and in the top 35% of the class.  Each school read their list.  See attached list.

No problems or issues were voiced about the candidates listed.
K Hetzel moved to accept the list of candidates.  B Dimwoodie seconded the motion.  Motion approved.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Governance

K Hetzel reported the updating of the Chapter Mangement Manuel is complete and will be uploaded to website soon.

The planning for community service events has begun.  Any ideas are welcomed.
 
Leadership Succession

M Siskind presented the report and asking everyone to update emails on the international site.  The chapter will be conducting an online election process again this year.

Opportunities and positions opened are as follows: President, secretary, 1 person for Leadership Succession, 1 person for Governance Committee, and Faculty Counselor at URI.
 
Program Given with the Vice-President’s Report.  
Research It was announced that the due date is Oct 2nd and information is available on chapter website.  
Heritage

S Zion distributed report.  It is also on newsletter and website.
Need help from the schools
Add over $800 in the Barden Neild Fund.

Midwifery and Obstetrical Nursing.  In future Public Health.
 
Newsletter Editor This year 2 newsletters have been published.  Any ideas and input welcomed.  Please submit to ML Palm.
